Heat exchanger of the UTKP series
The heat exchanger of the UTKP series (condensation surface heat exchanger) is a heat exchanger-utilizer model that has been successfully operated since 2000 on various fuel- and energy-using equipment of more than 100 enterprises of various industries, characterized by high reliability and stability of characteristics in long-term work conditions. The devices have proven themselves as highly efficient, easy-to-use, maintainable equipment for a wide range of applications. Since 2008, the production of a new model of UTKP with significantly reduced weight and dimensions characteristics and aerodynamic resistance has been started. In the new models, the possibility of using several heat exchangers equipped with turbulators in water pipes, a system of pre-irrigation of flue gases, a condensate neutralization station and a complex ACS system has been added. Such a deep modernization of the UTKP significantly expanded the range of technological application of the device and allowed its use in condensation mode in almost all subsequent projects. Since 2014, UTKP condensing heat exchangers have been manufactured under the single FGR brand.
UTKP are used:
1) as additional tail heat exchangers, which ensure the return of heat with heated feed water, which leads to an increase in boiler efficiency by up to 6-8% with a slight increase in the mass and dimensions of the boiler installation in general;
2) as heat exchangers replacing regular water economizers, which leads to a significant total technical and economic effect from a reduction in capital costs (for the purchase and installation of equipment) and from a reduction in operating costs (for fuel, electricity and maintenance);
3) as heat exchangers for obtaining heated water or other heat carriers used in other technological processes.
Structurally, the UTKP is a water-tube cross- counterflow “gas-liquid” heat exchanger, two or four-pass for water and two-pass for gases, the convective surfaces of which are made of finned bimetallic pipes (E- Fin – pipe), intended for the utilization of useful heat from flue gases, and latent heat of condensation of vapors contained in flue gases, heating of working fluids. The device is made in the form of a separate block that is installed behind the chimney on the gas path.
The main application is heating water with waste heat from fuel-using equipment with a heat capacity of 5 – 100 MW.
Heated water is used:
– in the hot water supply system;
– in the heating system;
– for heating boiler feed;
– for heating the supply of heat networks;
– for heating air for boiler combustion;
– for heating the premises of the boiler room;
– for heat engineering needs.
The correct choice of the type and required productivity of the heat exchanger is determined not by the installed capacity of the boiler units, but by the presence of real consumers of the heat being disposed of. The available heat in the flue gases of the boiler depends on the hydrogen content in the fuel, the burning rate of the fuel, the percentage of excess oxygen in the fuel-air mixture, and the temperature of the flue gases. The typical model range of UTKPs produced by our enterprise may not meet some customer requirements, so we note that in 90% of cases UTKPs are manufactured on the basis of a project with appropriate technical and technological characteristics.
Our company has a lot of experience and provides a full range of works on the reconstruction of existing and construction of new energy facilities using condensation technologies on the basis of heat utilization equipment of our own production – from design to introduction into industrial operation.

The tube bundle of the heat exchanger is composed of bimetallic finned tubes with certain geometric parameters.
In the heat exchanger, the water is heated due to the cooling of the flue gases passing in the intertube space.
In the lower part of the heat exchanger there is a chamber for collecting the formed condensate and a fitting for its removal to the chemical water purification system .
In the lower and upper part of the heat exchanger there are nozzles for supplying and draining the heated water, in which sleeves are provided for installing thermometers.
in the heat exchanger , which can be a hatch for inspecting the heat exchange pipes, as well as for carrying out, if necessary, their cleaning.
On the outlet gas pipe of the heat-utilizer, fittings are provided for gas temperature measurement, gas sampling for gas analysis, and aerodynamic resistance measurement during maintenance and adjustment works.
